How we respond

When crisis hits
Mass mobilization, delivered quietly.
When immigration enforcement swept through southeastern Minnesota, families were suddenly without income, without groceries, and afraid to ask for help. We The Gente mobilized, coordinating food and essential supplies to hundreds of families, delivered quietly and with dignity.

First call, same-day action.
When a local father, a transplant patient, was suddenly detained, his family didn't know where to turn. We The Gente connected his wife with legal representation and covered the initial bond hearing fee right away. Working with community partners, we brought him home to his family.
As reported by MPR NewsShowing up in a crisis is just the start. The real work is everyday: helping families move from getting by to getting ahead.

Most organizations offer a single service. We built a pipeline.
A family that walks through our door can find resource navigation, emergency stabilization, and community support, and then move forward toward a new career or a small business. Every layer of support connects to the next. That’s not an accident. That’s the design.

Who We Serve
Every resource, every conversation, every program comes from the lived experience of the community we serve. The people closest to the problem are closest to the solution.
We serve immigrants and lifelong residents. Veterans and first-generation students. Families starting over after incarceration and entrepreneurs opening their first business. Single parents, farmworkers, young people without a roadmap, and elders navigating systems alone. If you need a hand, this is your place.
